Greg Smith

Greg obtained his PhD degree from Auckland University in 2009 under Professor Peter Shepherd. He successfully obtained funding to work for 6 months in Singapore studying the effect of anticancer drugs on metabolism. On his return to New Zealand the applicant was working on a project understanding how glucose regulates proteins in the liver. Shortly after, Greg obtained a highly competitive FRST fellowship to study insulin signalling in the brain. Recently, Greg moved to Australia to set up his research laboratory looking at how hormones regulate liver metabolism using an isolated liver system.
